A 360-degree approach to recovery from addiction

Shine360 differs from most other addiction-related organizations because it examines and utilizes both present and future solutions to the problem. Shine360 is uniquely led by Helen Shih, MD, MS, MPH who is a radiation oncologist at Massachusetts General Hospital. Dr. Shih cares for people with brain tumors and routinely sees patients baseline prognoses transform from a few months of life to few or many ongoing years. The challenge of addiction is similar, a complex lifelong disease and our goal is to put the disease in permanent remission. Dr. Shih brings the foundation knowledge of medicine and a different view as a cancer doctor. Most of Dr. Shih’s knowledge on addiction is from first hand experiences with addicts, some who are also her patients, most in recovery, and working with also families and the community. Together, we believe this perspective brings something different to the war on addiction.
